While it’s no secret that Microsoft is heavily pushing its Skype for Business Online users to migrate to Teams, with over 10 million active daily users and 100 million licensed enterprise seats, it’s clear that Skype for Business isn’t going anywhere anytime soon (well, at least not until 2021).
While most of the collaboration news from Microsoft out of Ignite was heavily focused on Teams, we know Skype for Business is still a part of the collaboration environment for a number of organizations.
We recently sat down with a manufacturing customer of ours who explained how they use Vyopta to monitor and report on their multi-vendor environment which includes Skype for Business on-premise.
With manufacturing operations in 40 locations across 6 countries, equipment uptime was crucial. In the past, engineering teams would have had to have been deployed via last-minute travel to get equipment up and running again. With the rise of video conferencing, they have been able to drastically reduce travel costs. Since monitoring their UC environment allows them to ensure adequate video quality to take issues remotely, they use Vyopta to gain insights across their multi-vendor environment. In addition, Vyopta was instrumental in providing visibility into a recent migration to Microsoft Skype for Business, and they plan to utilize Vyopta during their planned migration to Microsoft Teams in the near future.
